Tea Silvestre of Social Good Marketing & Design submits winning design for
2007 California Strawberry Festival Poster
VENTURA, CA (March 7, 2007) – Artist and entrepreneur, Tea Silvestre of SOCIAL GOOD Marketing &
Design, a Ventura-based, full-service marketing firm, took center stage yesterday at a press luncheon at
Yolanda’s Mexican Café in Oxnard where Oxnard Mayor Dr. Thomas E. Holden, Festival committee
members, civic leaders, sponsors and media gathered for the announcement celebration and kick off to
Strawberry Festival festivities.
Silvestre was awarded $1,500 and the distinguished honor of her design highlighting the 24th Annual
CALIFORNIA STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL on T-shirts, posters and merchandise.
After studying the poster winners from the last 23 years on the Festival’s website, Silvestre said “I tried to be
strategic and was searching for a fresh approach. I also wanted something that was relevant to California
and Oxnard’s coastal location. The first image that came to mind was a huge strawberry sitting in the bay
like a ship.”
Silvestre said that she created five different designs, but decided that this one was “the one” and chose it
as her only submission. After two rounds of eliminations, her striking last minute entry won the favor of the
selection committee.
“With the quality and variety of submissions, every year it seems our selection process gets tougher and
tougher,” says Festival Chairman Dean Maulhardt. “We feel this year’s poster image offers an alluring look
at the fun and excitement in store for Festival attendees.
“It’s a tall order to capture the look and feel of the heralded event that ranks among the nation’s top outdoor
Festivals with delicious foods, Fine Arts & Crafts, entertainment, and family fun that pays tribute to California’
s rich agricultural heritage while benefiting various local charities.”
For Silvestre, combining her knowledge and passion in the arts with her graphic design skills proved to be
the perfect fit to showcase her numerous talents. At her company, Social Good Marketing & Design, she
utilizes her creativity in the creation of various marketing materials, brochures and ad campaigns that
“Create waves of positive change” through the strategic use of marketing and public relations.
Reaching out to the community, the poster serves as yet another tool to support and embrace the outreach
work the Festival does with its extensive fundraising to benefit local non profit groups. Silvestre is pleased
to know that her design will help the CALIFORNIA STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL in its mission of giving back to
communities through attendance of the Festival.
The stunning graphic design features a gigantic strawberry glistening above the ocean waves with morning’
s sky casting a warm glow mirrored in the surrounding ripples of water. The total dramatic effect is
contemporary, enchanting and visually exciting.
