VENTURA, CA (July 10, 2008) – The Sustainability Council of Ventura County (a nonprofit organization) and Social Good Marketing & Design, Inc. announced today the formation of a strategic partnership that will work to promote sustainable and socially conscious businesses, nonprofits and other entities in the Greater Ventura County area.  The joint venture centers around a website owned by the non-profit that will be managed by Social Good Marketing & Design, Inc.

The two organizations are working out the details of a program that will utilize an online registry at www.sustainable-vc.org to identify and inventory entities that are currently utilizing “green” and sustainable practices in their daily operations.  The website will allow applicants that qualify to showcase to the public and local governments (through a searchable directory) the sustainable management practices in use by those registered. There will be different voluntary levels of participation – from basic to advanced – depending on the level of effort and audited confirmation. 

“We are very excited to be collaborating on this project with the Sustainability Council,” said Tea Silvestre, president and CEO of Social Good Marketing & Design, Inc.  “This is a unique partnership that will allow us to leverage the talents and abilities of both our organizations in a way that we hope will help promote more ‘green’ management practices and bring recognition to Ventura County for its commitment to sustainability.”

Todd Collart of the Sustainability Council added, “Unlike similar websites that focus only on green business practices, the site will address the three elements of sustainability: the environment, the economy, and social equity. The site will welcome the participation of businesses, but also governmental agencies and institutions, nonprofit organizations, as well as individuals.” 

Sustainble-VC.org will also offer an educational component for those who want to learn more about sustainable management practices.  Related programs will facilitate consulting services to those organizations wishing to deepen their commitments to sustainable business practices and marketing strategies.

Phase One of the website will be structured similarly to an existing website created by Social Good Marketing at www.socialgooddirectory.com.  Volunteers are currently being sought to participate in a focus group that will address the site’s structure and functionalities in later phases.
